The Grade 8’s were nervous and excited to start the Willy Wonka musical. Before we started to practice, we had to audition. All the kids who wanted to take part in having a main role, had to audition. We had to sing the song of the role we wanted to play. The main characters are: Willy Wonka, played by Jack; Charlie Bucket, played by Rohin; Grandpa Joe, played by Joshua; Augustus Gloop, played by Dale; Mrs. Gloop played by Sacha; Veruca Salt, played by Victoria; Mr. Salt played by Dylan; Violet Beauregarde played by Grace; Mrs. Beauregarde played by Abby; Mike Teavee played by Sean and Mrs. Teavee played by Megan. The Oompa Loompas did not have to audition, for, while important, they are not main roles.  The practices were on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and we had to come in on a Sunday to do a full dress rehearsal, but we got to eat brunch after, which was amazing. The whole process was a great deal of work and fun.  Once we knew what our part was in the play, we were all eager to start learning our lines, songs and dances. We were all so excited and grateful when we started to get our costumes and props. The costumes turned out great and suited each character. The props are so well thought out and they make the production just that much better. The whole atmosphere is great: everyone is working hard, but we are still having fun at the same time. We have improved tremendously since the first day, including being quiet and listening.   It was plethora of fun learning the songs and dances. We can not wait to see how the show will turn out and I know everyone is ready to play their parts and is ready to make the play the best it can be. Please come and support our performance on Saturday, November 26 at 7:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the school online box office at http://theatre.brentwood.bc.ca/ Grace P, ‘21 & Megan K, '21
