Whittall Yuletide Celebrations

17 January 2022

To cap off an eventful and exciting year, and the first term of the 2021-22 school year, Whittall spends the final evening in a traditional setting, at Duncan’s finest, Just Jake’s restaurant, accompanied by incredible staff, food, and friends. This is a perfect time to reflect on the start of the year, whether that be adjusting to a new school, taking on new challenges and responsibilities in the house, or general experiences throughout the year.

Whittall’s final meal consists of an all-you-can-eat frenzy of roast beef, potatoes, kale salad, chicken breast, tortellini, and, of course, the famous, butternut squash soup, that can only be truly experienced, “if combined with horseradish” said Mr Sullivan.

After returning from the much-needed meal off campus, Whittall housestaff and students gathered around the Christmas tree in the common room, to partake in the Secret Santa where students such as Will P will make good use of their new gifts, where he claims “will keep me steady, and help to get through the rest of the school year.”

It is fair to conclude that there is very little to improve upon Whittall’s closing ceremonies. It is a perfect way to end the year on a positive note, before heading into a much-needed nearly one month break, where students take a rest from busy schedules led by the tripartite program of academics, arts, and athletics. This break also indicates the end of many Grade 12 university applications, which brings a sigh of relief to many students who spent lots of free time perfecting their university applications.
