Whittall House’s Pillars for Success

The roots of all of Whittall House’s success can be traced back to two sources: Mr Gage and Ms Rogers. The two are always there to give a helping hand and keep the house in order.

Ms Rogers, who attended the University of Victoria, has been a Whittall Houseparent for three years. Infamously known for her house meetings, Ms Rogers is one the kindest humans you can find on campus. With some of the best advice, she is always there in case you need someone to talk to. “Although she calls more house meetings than I can remember, I can always count on her and I’m glad she is a part of Whittall House” says Santiago E, Whittall ‘22. While Ms Rogers keeps Whittall House in check, she is also working on her Masters late into the night. She also added a four legged malfunctioning alarm clock called Bentley to the house, which I know all the grade twelves are really fond of.

Onto Mr Gage, who attended Western University as well as the University of Victoria and has been a Whittall Houseparent for a miraculous sixteen years. The fact he is still going after all the stuff the kids pull is truly incredible. Sajeev S, Whittall ‘22, who has been in Whittall for four years says, “He has become like a second father to me after all this time together.” Mr Gage, a man of many skills, always knows what to say. Sometimes he says nothing at all and “that look” is all it takes. Whether it is Clash Royale or Chess, Mr Gage is happy to take on a challenge and somehow always comes out victorious. On Saturday nights you can find him cooking burgers on the grill for the entire house, which all the hungry boys devour.

The two really make the perfect duo and I know everyone in the house is fortunate we have them.
