Whitewater Kayak Race a Success

Brentwood's Outdoor Pursuits programme hosted a whitewater kayak slalom on the Cowichan River this past weekend. More than 20 whitewater paddlers, including many Brentwood students, challenged themselves by attempting to negotiate the 18-gate course. Top Brentwood boy was Ben Fortson (1st overall in K-1 Jr. men). Ashley Taylor was the top Brentwood girl (1st overall in K-1 W Jr.). Both of these athletes were able to make all of the gates on one of their runs. Congratulations to all the competitors and a huge thank you to the students of Outdoor Pursuits and Ms. Herman for volunteering to run this unique event.
