Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013:
Clutching the slippery strap of your seatbelt, you watch the redbrick gates of Brentwood pass by your window. Your parents, just as nervous as you are, make anxious conversation about the beautiful gardening job, or something that seems irrelevant to you at the moment. You want to know the facts. You want answers to those questions that neither your parents nor frequent trips to the Brentwood website could answer. Who is my roommate going to be? What is the food going to taste like? Is everyone going to be smarter than me? Am I going to have to wear khaki pants every day? Don’t worry, my friend. These are the same questions asked by every new Brentwood student in the moments leading up to their arrival in Mill Bay, no matter where they come from, or who they are. Waiting for you behind those gates is a team of students and staff trained in the art of answering any questions that you may have, and making sure you have an absolute blast in the first few days of your Brentwood career. It will be a flurry of introductions, uniforms, games, and even a dance!
By the end of the week, you will be familiar with all answers to the questions that you have, and a lot of the faces. By the end of the month, you will know your schedule like a veteran. By the end of the year, you will know the people you live with more closely than you could ever imagine, and will wonder how it is possible that you hadn’t met them before your first Brentwood day, September 3rd 2013.
But that’s in the future. For now, just relax and have a great time.
