The senior girls volleyball team are headed to Prince George for the B.C. championships after winning their 4th consecutive Island Championship. The first day of action saw the girls victorious in their matches over Shawnigan Lake School (25-13, 25-19), St. Andrews (25-14, 25-12), and St. Michaels University School (20-25, 25-12, 15-3). In semi-final action on the second day, the girls again played host SMUS in a best 3 of 5 games format and dominated the Victoria team with scores of 25-15, 25-17 and 25-16.  In the gold medal match, Brentwood played a hungry and feisty Woodlands team who have lost to Brentwood in the finals for the past three years.
In the first game, Brentwood quickly established a 6-point lead and never looked back, dominating Woodlands 25-18.  In the second game, our team started slowly and Woodlands took full advantage, jumping out to a 17-11 lead.  With steely determination and patience, however, our girls pulled ahead of Woodlands 20-17 with the help of some superb serving from Indre Semogas and went on to win 25-21.  The third game was exciting with some superb play from both teams, but it was Sara Jackson who was instrumental in sealing the Brentwood victory by incredible backcourt play (final score 25-22).  Indre Semogas and Abby Neufeld were named to the all-tournament team and Shelby Michaels was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.  Next up for the girls is the Provincial Championships to be held 27-29th November in Prince George.
