This summer, Tessa M and her sister Shelby travelled to New York City to participate in the Maccabi Games. It was a great experience! The two girls saw all of the sites including Madison Square Gardens where the opening ceremonies were held. There were approximately 14000 people at the opening ceremonies cheering on the 2000 athletes that travelled from all over the world including Israel, Venezuela, Mexico, Brazil and across the U.S.A.

The girls played hard during three days of match play, securing a spot in the semi finals. Their team met up with Bensonhurst School (Brooklyn, NY) and beat them in three straight matches and went on to face their biggest competitor, Orange County (California) in the finals. The games were intense with the two teams being very evenly matched. The teams fought hard, won in 4 games, and took home the gold medal, great memories and new friends. The girls both hope to try out for the women's team in 2013 and travel to Israel for the World Maccabi games which are held every 4 years, just like the Olympics.
