Under the Spreading Dogwood Tree
Every year the BC Government awards the Dogwood District Scholarships to graduating students who demonstrate excellence in arts, applied skills, sports or leadership. The applicants must present their work at an evening event and are interviewed by specialist judges in their field.
This year the scholarship evening was held at St Margaret’s School in Victoria and over 100 applicants from Vancouver Island Independent Schools vied for 43 available scholarships, each worth $1000. 15 Brentwood students applied and 7 were successful in this extremely competitive arena.
The winners were: Annie B, Popular Music; Maggie D, Musical Theatre; Beatrice F, Ceramics; Noud H, Leadership; Hope K, Popular Music; Michael O, Classical Instrumental Music and Parker R, Photography.
