The Play's the Thing

Thursday, November 11, 2010 -

The rehearsals of the Senior Acting class' modernized version of Peter Pan, "Pan", have begun. The Darling family, Lost Boys, Mermaids, Amazons, Peter and Captain Hook are researching  costumes, creating scenes and studying lines. Sixteen students from the cast of 25 have even started weekly stage fighting workshops in the gym. These special two hour combat sessions will be taught by an expert instructor/choreographer from Victoria, Mr. Jacques Lemay. We are very pleased to have this renowned theatre professional work with our students.

Mr. Lemay's credits are impressive: Artistic Director of the Charlottetown Festival, 1991-97, Founding Director of the Modern Jazz Dance of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, 1976-89, and Co-Founder of the Canadian College of the Performing Arts, 1998-2010, in Victoria. Hours of rehearsals will be spent to develop the cast's skills in armed and unarmed combat, learn the choreography, and perform an exciting battle on Captain Hook's ship between the Pirates and the Lost Boys.

We will present two evening performances (7:30pm) to the public and Brentwood students, as well as two morning shows (9:30am) to invited school children from the Cowichan Valley, April 19-21.  Please contact Lorraine Blake (www.tgb.brentwood.bc.ca) to reserve your tickets.
