The annual pilgrimage by the BCRC to the Monster Erg Championships took place this past Sunday, February 6th.  Forty Brentwood rowers competed in eight divisions over 2000 meters. With six cities all across Canada hosting individual ergometer races and the results linked electronically, this was the official national championships.

In the Jr. A Men’s division, Martin B, the 2010 Junior B Men’s national champion, continued his winning ways by capturing his second national championship in a time of 6:15. Lance B placed 4th with a time of 6:32.5, two seconds out of second.

Claire V finished 5th in the Jr. A Women’s division with Deirdre H 10th. Stephanie T was 15th and Elizabeth A, 21st. Sadie C placed 13th in the Jr. A Women’s Lwt. division.

All were close enough to the winners in their events to be awarded the coveted "Tough Enough" t-shirts.

Outstanding results from the Junior B Girls today included Stacey K finishing 4th in a Tough Enough time of 7:40.6, a personal best. Tamsyn C competed at her first Monster Erg and finished with a personal best time for a Junior B Lwt. of 8:26 which was 3rd in her heat. The Novice Girls entered 4 teams in the novice double race which had 10 teams. They finished 1st - Spencer M and Kelly R, 6th - Kelsey S. and Lexy K, 8th and 9th. It was a fantastic day as all the girls had personal best times.

The next events for the rowing team are the Hungerford and the Head of the Lake Regattas February 19-20 at Shawnigan Lake.
