The Learning Curve 1
The Junior A Girls Volleyball team exceeded expectations this week in capturing the Mid-Island Championships. The girls have certainly been on a steep learning curve all season with previous tournament results of 7th of 8, 6th of 12 and 4th of 12.
At Mid-Islands the girls lost their first game against Duncan Christian in a close one and then, because it was double knock out, had to take the long way around. After a one hour break, the girls played five matches in a row with barely time for bathroom breaks: they won them all.
In the final, they had to win two successive matches against Duncan Christian (again, double knock out rule). The first went three sets - we won and forced the final match. This final was won convincingly with a 25-16, 25-11 scoreline. In essence, the girls have demonstrated true grit and considerable growth as a team.
The girls have now qualified for the Island Tournament at Dover Bay on November 15 and 16. Mr. Neil Robinson, Coach
