This past week, on May 17th and 18th, Brentwood’s Competitive Golf team took part in the annual Island Championship held at Arbutus Ridge Golf and Country Club. Ten teams entered with just five spots at provincials up for grabs.

The first round saw some good rounds of golf and some even better weather. Jagre K and Ned B, Privett ‘23, Maxine P and Treety J, Alexandra ‘23 & ‘25 and I represented Brentwood well, leaving us in third place heading into the tournament's final round.

Day number two brought the wind, but also lots of opportunity. Brentwood proved its team has what it takes to be the best. With a return from Gavyn K, Privett ‘22 the team rallied in tough conditions to ultimately tie for first place and punch their ticket to the provincial championships on May 30th and 31st at Sandpiper Golf Resort.

Head Coach Mr. Warner recalls “a solid team performance on day 2, in blustery conditions, that enabled Brentwood to vault into first place. The golf team is looking forward to the opportunity to take on the best in BC at AA provincials.”

Maxine P, Alexandra ‘23 says that “It was great to compete in a tournament for Brentwood and to play with people from nearby schools.” Our neighbors are always fun to play with but when it comes time for the big stage, there is no doubt in my mind that our school's competitive Golf Team has what it takes to ultimately capture the provincial championship title!
