Grit and Joy. These two words have been rebounding through our heads from September until now, and this past weekend we lived up to our team’s mission statement. As we stepped out on the court, we knew that we were a different team from our very first tournament way back at Dover Bay in September. We also knew that the opposition would be strong and would give their all, just as we would. We began with a good start as we won the first two games we played against Barsby and GNS. Our third game was against Lambrick Park and, although it was a very close game, we lost by a couple of points. Our first match on Saturday resulted in a win and this lead to the semifinals. We played Cedar, and though we lost, we came away with a new understanding of our limits as a team. Our last game against the Pacers was very long and we were all exhausted, but we stuck to our guns, and finished the weekend with a bronze. This Saturday we go up against two very determined teams who are all gunning for the wild card spot at provincials. We will be playing at Saint Patrick’s Regional Secondary School in Vancouver and in order to move on to the provincial championship, we will need to beat both teams. Karlien LR, Captain, Allard ‘14
