The Foote Takes Flight

Brentwood’s shiny new Anne & Eldon Foote Athletic Centre will be buzzing with volleyball action this weekend as it plays host to its first major contest, the Brentwood Classic Volleyball Tournament, Friday Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 13. 16 Senior Girls teams from across the Island and the Lower Mainland will play six matches each. Perennial powerhouses St. Thomas Aquinas, Carihi and Claremont will bring their best. Brentwood’s Varsity team, currently ranked 5th among BC’s AA schools, open their tournament against Port Alberni on Friday at 2:40. Head Coach Jill Fougner observed that “The team has been working hard during training sessions and are very excited to be playing in front of a home crowd in the new Wheaton Gym.” Competition will run from 1:30 to 9:00 on Friday and Saturday 9:00 to 4:00 with the Championship game at 3:15 Saturday.
