The Foote Athletic Centre incorporates many different rooms for all of Brentwood’s athletes, recreational or competitive. One of them on the bottom floor is the Hardy Cardio Room. This ideal room is filled with spin bikes, treadmills, ergs, weights and more! If you are keen on workouts, the Cardio Room is for you! Whether you prefer working out at 6 in the morning or to go after sport or during arts afternoons, the Cardio Room is open. You can do everything from intense running to stretching on the mats. Students and teachers alike love Hardy Cardio.

Brentwood students use the Cardio Room as a place to do their own workouts or something for their sport. For example, some mornings the rowers are in the Cardio Room or are right next door in the Strength and Conditioning Gym. “I love that it’s open in the mornings and also it has a lot of different equipment to do exercises on” says Lorelei B, Hope ‘23. There is an almost serene nature to the Cardio Room as the athletes are in their element even when there is music playing through the room’s Bluetooth sound system.

Anyone can go to the Cardio Room to exercise! Students come spinning or running with their friends or by themselves throughout the day. “One of the things I love about the cardio room is the bikes. I love spinning. The environment in the cardio room always pushes me to work hard, despite the fact that I’m working out alone. It is a welcoming environment with something for every type of workout” says Ms Sarah Hall, Alex Assistant Houseparent.

You don’t have to be an amazing athlete to use the Cardio Room; it’s for anyone who wants to exercise! The Hardy Cardio Room makes working out fun!

As with everything, the Cardio Room has new and increased COVID-19 protocols. Some of these include sanitizing and wiping down all equipment and a maximum capacity of 12 people for the 2,000SF space. These protocols enable us to keep Brentwood’s gyms open even during a pandemic!
