Our BEAT, Brentwood's Environmental Action Team, led by Gina B, Mack ‘17 and Ms Richardson, organizes numerous events throughout the year to encourage a sustainable lifestyle.  In the inaugural BEAT Earth Day Photo Contest, grade winners included Grade 9 - Quin N, Grade 11- Nairee P & Grade 12 - Hanna M who each won $50. The overall winner was Robbie K, Whittall ‘19 who won $300. Congratulations to all of these artists. Thanks to Derrick Marven and Barry Hetschko, of the Somenos Marsh Wildlife Society and Robert Skelton for judging the photos. More of Robbie’s work can be found at https://www.instagram.com/robbiekrysl/ This week the eight houses will complete to reduce their consumption of electricity. The winning house will enjoy Pizza on Patel. In external BEAT events, Brentwood won the BC Green Games with their Home Tweet Home constructions. Thanks to Nick P, Nick M, Maddie C, Oliver W, Ori, Benett L, Liam S., Will H, Mr. Miller, Mr Norman, and Charity Work Day volunteers who helped build and install the bird houses at the Somenos Marsh north of Duncan. BEAT will also play a huge role in minimizing the waste from this weekend’s Brentwood International Regatta. Volunteers will be stationed around the campus to assist with the sorting of recyclables, organics and waste. Jim Ganley
