The Amazing Race

3 November 2010
This is Wednesday.  I am sitting at the airport about to embark on the first of 13 flights around the planet over the next month.  I am about to enter a world of taxi cabs, currency exchange kiosks, travelers gut and jet lag.  It is frenetic and exhausting and often I feel like I’m in an episode of the Amazing Race. It is all part of the job. Admissions work is more than walking prospective families around our campus; for these are families that already know about our school. This is the easy part and to be honest, the school sells itself.  My predecessor, used to say, “a trained monkey could convince families about Brentwood”!  For those of you who have visited Brentwood College School, you know that you would be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful, progressive and impressive school anywhere. The tough part of Admissions work is convincing people who have never heard of our school to simply take a look.  This is the main purpose of this trip. What helps is having satisfied Brentwood families around the world willing and able to help spread the word.  On this trip, I will be meeting many such people who have kindly offered to introduce me, and our school, to prospective families.  As well, much of this trip is about knocking on doors and convincing people to take the time to learn about Brentwood.   One by one, individual-by-individual, family-by-family, my goal is to tell as many people as I can about our school. Why? Because I truly feel that Brentwood College School is like no other school.  It is the best educational decision any family will ever make. Boarding time…
