Thanksgiving Dinner at Brentwood
Once a year, to conclude the first several weeks of the new school year, and to jump-start the much anticipated long weekend, Brentwood comes together to share Thanksgiving Dinner as a school. We all travel down as a house wearing our number one dress and enjoy a nice meal together before we travel off-campus for Thanksgiving Break.
Due to the number of international students attending the school who might celebrate Thanksgiving on different dates, the dinner at Brentwood is a way to celebrate Thanksgiving all over the world during one dinner. This year’s Thanksgiving feast included turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, Brussel sprouts, all topped with cranberry sauce, with a delicious pumpkin pie as a dessert.
On top of the delightful meal, the Thanksgiving cabaret included five student acts. The performance was emceed by Assistant Head Prefect of Arts, Robin C, Alex 22’ who observed: “Every performance tonight was unique, and amazing. I’m so excited for all the concerts we have to come.”
Students were also given a chance to reflect on what values they hold, and what they are grateful for. In a Thanksgiving dinner discussion with Lucca P, Whittall ‘22, he explained how “grateful I am to share experiences like tonight with my classmates and housemates.”
This experience allowed me to reflect on what I am grateful for, and I will take home those values over the weekend when I am spending time with family. And more importantly, there was the realization that Mr. Patel introduced, about this being my last year experiencing this event and all the other Brentwood events; this made it even more precious.
