On Thursday, November 25th, we students of Brentwood gathered for American Thanksgiving dinner. Earlier in the day, our supreme leader, Mr Patel, gathered with us in the Bunch Theater to discuss his traditional “Thankful For Top 10 List” which ended on a positive note informing the school we would be feasting at our annual American Thanksgiving dinner followed by a spectacular Art Show, “Promises”. Following a great afternoon of sports, we signed in early and began our preparations for the dinner.

We were required to follow a dress code of theater dress meaning no jeans, no sweatpants: either a blazer or a nice dress. Of course there were the handful of students who decided it would be a good idea to rock their Nike sneakers with their suit or dress. Gauche.

The meal consisted of everything imaginable on a Thanksgiving day: turkey, stuffing, ham, cranberry sauce and, of course, there was loads and loads of mashed potatoes with a side of gravy. A few words of Grace, then one by one the houses were selected to go up for dinner.

As we finished our fantastic meal, we made our way to the spectacular art show. We were greeted with fresh glasses of apple cider as we grazed the hallways to indulge in the outstanding art created by peers and classmates. And to put the cherry on top, there was a live performance by three amazing members of the Student Executive Council: our beloved Head Prefect, Jacob H, Privett ‘22, the notorious Rogers House Captain, Steven G who also stated that “the night was impeccable”, our Arts Prefect, Robin C, Alex ‘22, and bassist Zheng Z, Privett '24.

The night was spectacular for me, my peers, and the staff. It’s sad to say this was my final Thanksgiving Dinner here at Brentwood. I will never forget the taste of the pumpkin tart.
