Terry Fox was a man with a story. He was a man with determination and hope. Terry had goals for himself and for Canada.  The Brentwood community has a tradition of helping Terry with this goal. All new and returning students, as well as dozens of staff, some parents, and more than a few of our four-legged friends ran or jogged or walked 5 kilometers (or cycled 20 km) on Sunday in order to help achieve Terry’s goal of raising awareness and funds for cancer research.  Everyone had to participate in some way: we had people at the water stations or at the turn around point (along with Mrs Reynolds’ pugs) helping encourage everyone while yearbookers took photos and volunteers handed out snacks. After everyone was done with their run or walk, we had tacos, chili, salsa, guacamole, salads, cookies and chocolate milk to celebrate the finish. And a high five from Mr Patel! With lots of time and planning (and an emotional presentation at assembly - please hand me the kleenex) by Ms Hall, this was a very successful event to help kick off the year and raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society in honor of Terry.  The next fundraising run is the CIBC Run for the Cure in Victoria on Sunday, October 1 which, though optional, is always well attended and supported by the Brentwood family!
