On Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30th, the Brentwood Tennis team made its way to Shawnigan Lake School to participate in the Franco Biondo Memorial Tennis Tournament. On Friday we were very lucky with the weather: it turned out to be a beautiful day. We started the tournament playing Shawnigan and, having already played two league games against them, we had a good perceptive with what we were up against. The girls took all five matches, with Mariana P and Indre S winning 6-1, Mariana P and Tara V winning 6-0, Kirsty M and Amanda M winning 6-3, 6-0 and Andjela S winning 6-0. On the boy’s side Nat T and Connor S won 6-1, Andrew L and Raffy G won 6-1 and 6-3, and Conrad A won 6-0. To finish it off, Henryk S and Andjela S won 6-4 capping a 10-1 performance against SLS.

Our second match was against Terry Fox, a AAA school from Vancouver. With strong ground stokes and aggressive net shots, the Brentwood Tennis team walked away with another 10-1 victory.

On Saturday, the team played Claremont. After losing 4-7 a couple of weeks ago, we knew we would have to be consistent and aggressive in order to succeed. The entire team played some of its best tennis of the year and ended up taking the match 11-0.

It turned out to be a very successful weekend as we won 31 out of our 33 matches. This was a very big confidence booster as we host the ISAs this Thursday, May 5th. We will be competing against both AA and AAA schools. The boys’ and girls’ teams will be playing against St. Georges, West Point Grey, St. Michaels, Shawnigan, Southridge, Crofton House, and Queen Margaret School.

Come out and show your support!
