The Brentwood Tennis team capped off a highly successful season with a 2nd place showing at the BC “AA” High School Provincial Tennis tournament last weekend. The team entered the provincial tournament as the #2 seeds behind Collingwood School from West Vancouver. We finished first in our pool defeating Valleyview from the Okanagan, and MEI from Abbotsford.

We then advanced to the quarterfinals against Sa’hali High School from Kamloops. A tough test in the quarterfinals prepared us for our semi-final opponents from Southridge in Surrey. A great effort propelled the team into the finals against a powerful Collingwood side.

The final was a hotly-contested affair with the score being tied 4 sets apiece after the first 8 matches: Gold would be decided by the last 3. Our Brentwood players fought hard, but were defeated 6-4 in both the final sets. Strong performances were turned in by all members of the team – Conrad A, Nat T, Frankie P, Benson C, Nick McL, Minh C, Felipe P-S, Gregg H, Santiago G, Inigo O, Amanda M, Andjela S, Georgia C, Raveena K, Marian M, Kenzie B, and Alix L.
The future looks bright for the team next year as 12 of the 16 players from this year will be returning.

We may have finished 2nd on the court but we showed our team spirit by winning the best team award at the banquet while representing Ireland at the Summer Olympics as can be seen in the above picture.
