It has been an extremely busy week preparing the Senior Tennis team for the upcoming season. The three day tryouts wrapped up on Tuesday and the chosen team went right into an exhibition match on Friday against Claremont (AAA).

The first games were all very close. Kirsty M and Marianna P came away with a 6-2 win, while Indre S and Tara V won a nail-biter 6-5. Andjela S walked away with a 6-1 win against Claremont’s single player.

In boys’ doubles, the teams of Andrew L and John B, and Connor S and Eric D.P, ended their matches in a close tie-breaker, but unfortunately they were not able to get the better half, losing 5-6.  Conrad A had a very competitive match against their top boy losing 6-3.

After the crossovers, Kirsty M and Marianna P won 6-0, while Tara V and Nicole P lost a close encounter 6-3. On the boys’ side, both Benson C and Nat T and Henryk S and Frankie P lost in close matches. Despite the losses Benson and Nat had some very aggressive rallies losing 4-6, while Henryk and Frankie’s effort was exceptional.

As we get ready for our league matches, Friday’s contests were a very good opportunity to discover the different parts of our games that need work. Our next games will be against Shawnigan.
