Third term tennis has begun! This is the most popular term for tennis at Brentwood: athletes, finished with their other respective competitive seasons, tennis regulars, and new trainees, eager to learn and enjoy the third-term-sun, all gather in similarly-skilled groups to begin and improve. Newer students to the program focus more heavily on basic skills and drills while seasoned veterans can be seen in intense round-robin tournaments. All levels of students get the opportunity to play proper games with equally skilled, and challenging opponents. The large enrolment numbers require not only a large commitment for the students, but for the staff as well, with multiple coaches helping all over the courts. While the beautiful weather is a desired aspect to the term, as anyone in Mill Bay knows, it can rain at any point in the year. With wet courts, students are unable to play, however this is not a “get-out-of-sport-free” card, as rainy days mean fitness days. Program-wide, regardless of experience, all athletes will be playing in a huge tournament near the end of the term, where there can only be one winner. The final, exciting, games will be cheered on by other students, sitting on the field and enjoying the barbeque set up outside of the courts. See you on the courts. Daniel M, Ellis ‘18
