For the past seven years, Brentwood has hosted an annual TEDx event that has showcased speakers from all over. Those speakers have included people from all sorts of different careers, current staff, and current students.

This year’s line up included current student Kameel A, Privett ‘23, whose talk was titled “Stop And Smell The Roses.” Kameel says that “TEDx talks have always been a place where I could go to learn things I never would’ve been able to otherwise. It’s always the most esoteric topics that are the coolest and I'm very excited to be a part of that community now.”

The second speaker was Aastha Kacha who talked about her eventful career in Space Architecture. Third was Patricia Kiteke who presented an informative talk regarding “Three Easy Leadership Skills.” The fourth speaker was Bill Bishop with his cool virtual talk titled “Dancing With Robots.” Fifth was current student Gabby C, Allard ‘22 who showed the audience “How To Utilize Your Subconscious” during her talk.

The event’s sixth speaker was Simon Douthwaite who gave the event's most emotional talk titled “The Fight Of Her Life” regarding his daughter's battle with cancer. Number seven was Pennylane Shen who delivered an outstanding talk titled “Building Your Art Bucket: A Visual Pilgrimage.” The eighth and final speaker of Brentwood’s 8th annual TEDx event was current staff member Mr. Rodrigues who comically left the audience “Rethinking Failure” throughout his hilariously awesome talk.

The event was, without a doubt, one to remember as many of the speakers had most likely forgotten what a normal version of TEDx looks like. The presenters walked, talked, laughed, and cried together all giving memorable speeches that will remain in the audience members’ minds for years to come.

The organizer of the event, Mr McPherson says “It was great to be able to host the whole school and external speakers for this year’s event. We were able to showcase a diverse portfolio of topics that I hope really resonated with our students.”
