Super Bowl in Whittall House

21 February 2022

Ahhh the Superbowl, a day known for bringing together families, cities, friends, fans, and gambling addicts from all over the world. It truly is a wonderful holiday; but however magical this day might be, it will always result - like any other sport - with a triumphant victory on one side, and a depressing defeat on the other. Whittall House found themselves on the latter after the result of this year's Superbowl.

Whittal House is not made up of too many Rams fans. Thankfully! So it was quite an easy decision to cheer for the Bengals, who have come out on top in the past to save some unwise wagers. I guess we were hoping that Joe Burrow and the rest of his Junior Varsity team could pull it off yet again. Sigh.

The first half started off in the Rams favor, but the momentum quickly shifted after an early touchdown, interception, and then a field goal, by the Bengals, giving them a lead of 20-3 early on in the second half. What we didn't know was that those early points would be the last of the night for the Bengals, who ultimately lost the contest with a 23 - 20 deficit, to the Los Angeles Rams, led by SuperBowl MVP, Cooper Kupp. And although I was surprisingly unable to get an interview with Cooper after the game, I found a close second, a defeated Cam McNeill who was available for a post-game interview and analysis: “It was a tough loss, for me, my team, and uhh, the Bengals, yeah. I’m down $30 on snacks and beverages, and I believe that I should be reimbursed by Joe Burrow himself” complained our Whitttal House Captain.

Ultimately, it was an exciting day fueled by swagger and snacks - and a combined goal of beating the Rams, that fell short by the smallest of margins.
