Outdoor Pursuits students took on a new challenge this month and went on a search for the Duncan Boulders. Bouldering is sport of growing popularity, it may even have a spot in the Olympics in the near future. Bouldering is similar to rock climbing however bouldering 'problems' tend to be shorter and lower to the ground so there is no rope used to secure the climber. The Duncan Boulders are a group of large boulders located on a plateau halfway up a mountain side in the Genoa Bay area. After finding the trailhead to the Duncan Boulders (a faint trail marked with several large rocks), stepping over a large rope, walking through a cave and hiking up steep terrain through meadows and forested areas we finally came across an impressive field of boulders. They did not disappoint. This is just one of the many activities involved in Brentwood's Outdoor Pursuits program. Other activities include: Indoor Rock Climbing , and River Runs at Skutz Falls, Cowichan River.
