Strong Start for Senior Boys Basketball

Having returned from a successful tour of Hawaii (four wins and no losses), the Senior Boys played two tournament games in Victoria on Thursday and Friday.  On Thursday, while still recovering from a brutal 18-hour travel schedule returning from Hawaii, the boys nonetheless played a good game against Robert Bateman High School. A strong team effort secured a 16-point win over the Fraser Valley School.  The win put Brentwood against Victoria powerhouse Claremont High School on Friday, a team that handed Brentwood a 38-point pasting during the Cowichan High School Tournament in December.  Brentwood jumped out to an early 18-point lead, but the inevitable scoring run from Claremont narrowed this gap to a mere six points. Although bending a little, the Brentwood players showed mental toughness in absorbing this run, maintaining their composure, and earning a ten-point win. The victory advances Brentwood into the tournament semi-final against Burnaby South High School on Saturday. Tip off is at noon at Claremont High.
