The basketball programme at Brentwood is on a roll and people are noticing. As the season moves closer toward the playoffs, one thing is clear: Brentwood basketball is a lot of fun to watch.  If the most recent games are any indication of things to come, it is going to be even more exciting in the weeks ahead. This week found Brentwood’s juniors and seniors facing rival Shawnigan Lake School.  The Junior boys made their way up the road on Tuesday and left with an impressive 56-43 win.  First year student David L led the way with 16 points.  Then, on Thursday night, in front of close to 500 screaming fans in the Brentwood gym the school awaited the much anticipated double-header against Shawnigan. In the first game, the Senior Girls dismantled Shawnigan’s squad by a score of 69-32. Maddie A scored an impressive 17 points and Siobhan W had 16. The late game featured Brentwood’s Senior Boys (currently #1 ranked team on the Island and 4th in the province) who took to the floor and overcame a slow start by beating Shawnigan’s boys, 70-63. Jason M put in 22 points and Raffy G contributed 12 points and 12 boards. This weekend the boys are co-hosting the 16-team Countdown-to-Playoffs tournament. It should be a tremendous weekend of basketball; the Senior Boys are back on the court tonight at 5:30 pm.
