Stars to the Port
On May 5th, Brentwood’s award-winning Concert Choir performed at the acoustically perfect Port Theatre in Nanaimo in “Voices of the Island.”
“Voices of the Island” featured 4 choirs: The Village Voices from Qualicum Beach, the Craig Bay Choristers, A Cappella Plus, and our own Brentwood College Concert Choir directed by Elizabeth MacIsaac and assisted by Phil Newns. The organizer of the event in Nanaimo is an alumnus of Brentwood College and proud of it. The singers present on Sunday spanned the ages 14 to 94.
The audience received the Brentwood Concert Choir with great applause and appreciation. The choir has, for the past 2 years, excelled and has garnered attention and hype for the caliber of their singing. They have been invited to both the Provincials and the Nationals this year.
The May 5th concert in Nanaimo was a rare opportunity to participate in the greater community, give something back, and offer the gift of song and youth beyond the Brentwood bubble. It was a joy for the audience and the other participating choirs that our students came into the community and performed as culture bearers for the next generation of choristers.
