As soccer throughout British Columbia successfully made the move into Stage 2 of the Covid-19 pandemic, the sport began its climb to the top once again. Over 20,000 men and women play soccer throughout the province and all of these people are beyond happy to be back on the pitch. Schools have resumed training across the province and the Brentwood boys are fired up and ready for some action!

But soccer at Brentwood has looked a little different this year due to all of the necessary protocols that have been put in place.

However, the schedule has remained the same as training continues to take place three days a week with exhilarating activities throughout the practice. With hopes of games in the near future, Coach Barrett’s training has remained both civilized and serious as the players have remained committed each and every session along with learning many of the key terms to success such as “Flattening out”, “Opening up”, “Starting over”, and more commonly “Man On”! The group has remained competitive with lots of scrimmages being played within our cohorts allowing for more of a game-like atmosphere each day.

Captains Noel P, Whittall ‘21 and Ankit B, Privett ‘21 continue to motivate the group throughout practice both on the pitch and the sideline with words of wisdom and strong encouragement. While the schedule remains questionable, the soccer Brentwood program will continue to train and practice for all of the possible upcoming events. The Captains agreed, “It’s been a great start to the season despite COVID mitigation strategies. We know we are all eager to get back out onto the pitch and compete versus other teams. We are looking forward to a great remainder of the season!”
