This weekend, the Senior Girls’ Volleyball team travelled to Woodlands in Nanaimo to compete in the Island Championships. On Friday, after 4 matches, they came through as top in our pool. This gave them a bye into the semi-finals.

Saturday at 2:30 the girls played Highlands in a best out of 5. Brentwood took the first two games and then Highlands came back taking the next two. The teams then went to a 5th set fighting hard for each point. Michelle M came in to serve at a crucial moment in the match. She made a big difference for the team by serving tough and playing strong defense, not allowing any ball to drop. Unfortunately, Highlands came out on top, 17-15.  It was a very emotional loss, but the girls had to deal with it quickly in order to come back in the bronze medal match against Ladysmith. Brentwood won and took the bronze medal. Emily H had a strong tournament and Tessa M was named to the All Star team. The team is really excited to go to the BC Provincial Championships in Vancouver in two weeks and are ready to compete in their biggest tournament of the season.
