Squash Hauls in Hardware
The weekend after we got back from midterm break, 18 players from our squash team headed to Victoria for the Pacific Northwest Junior Squash Championships. Players from various clubs and schools, including SMUS and Shawnigan, competed in this 3-day tournament.
When we arrived at SMUS on the first day, games have already begun and the bleachers were crowded with parents, coaches, and squash players. Each of us had games scheduled at different times. We sat on the bleachers cheering for our teammates when they were playing and witnessed some of the most intense games.
At the end of the day, we were all exhausted and enjoyed our little snooze on the ride back to school. With our never-ending support for one another, many of us earned spots in the finals for champions, consolation, and bronze medals. Some of our best results were
Boys U17 Novice Andrew L - 1st Place
Jason Y - Consolation Final Winner
Boys U19 B Novice Elliot H - Consolation Final Winner
Michael H - Bronze
Girls U19 Novice Vicky C 1st place
Lindsay C 2nd place
Girls U19 Blair W 1st place
Mabel L 2nd place
