Springing Into Golf Season

On Tuesday March 1st, term 3 sport at Brentwood officially began for the 2021-22 school year. My favorite among the offerings for this final term of school athletics is undoubtedly golf. Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from now until June, Brentwood’s golf team will travel up the road to Cowichan Golf Club where we students have the option to either play or practice.

Among the coaches this year are Mr Warner, Mr Sullivan, Mrs Whitney, along with head professional at Cowichan, Stormin Norm Jackson. Norm has worked with Brentwood’s golf program ever since the school started going to Cowichan years ago and says that “tThey are a delight to have at Cowichan and are developing not only as good golfers but, more importantly, as good people!”

Member of the program for the past two years, student Jagre K, ‘Privett 23 hasn’t yet had the chance to play competitively for Brentwood. He says that “I am excited for this year. It’s my first competitive golf term here at school and I'm definitely ready to get this show on the road.”

The competitive school season has unfortunately been non-existent for the past couple of years due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. Me, along with the other serious golfers in this year's group, are extremely pumped up to get things rolling as the days go by.

Along with the experienced players, some beginners can be found mixed in. From what I have seen so far, it seems that everyone in term three golf is really happy to be a part of this great athletic option Brentwood offers. I have no doubts that this term of golf has the potential to go down in the school's history as one of the best ever.
