As the second term of sport comes to an end, our exciting third term begins and with it one of the most action-packed sports comes along with it, tennis. Since so many Brentwood students are interested in its awesome tennis program, tennis is split up into four different blocks, three non-competitive blocks and one two hour block dedicated to Brentwood’s competitive players.

The start of tennis has included learning skills like serving and rallying followed up with games like King of the Court. One of second block's more skilled tennis players Owen S, Whittall ‘22 says “Tennis is going to be a lot of fun this term. It's going to be nice to perfect my craft and have lots of fun while doing it.” Another one of the second block’s more skilled players, Cameron M, Whittall ‘22 who is also quite dominant during King of the Court, says “I’m super pumped for tennis and King of the Courtis one of my specialties.”

Tennis is a super fun sport known to be easy to learn but hard to perfect. The skills taught to the students right now are entry level for now but as the term goes on, the difficulty will advance and so will the players’ skill levels. Since the term has just started, the past few practices have been quite similar, warming up with a quick jog around the courts then moving into partnered rallying followed by a game.

With COVID-19 receding, vaccines beginning, and players respecting the mitigation strategies, it looks as if the rest of the term will be a fun one. Tennis is going to be a good sport this term.
