Spring Music Successes
The Spring Term is always a busy one for performances by our myriad musical groups. After months of rehearsal in the fall and winter, music festivals blossom along with the spring tulips. Below are some of the recent honours achieved by Brentwood's student musicians:
Victoria Festival for the Performing Arts Brentwood Songbirds Vocal Ensemble - The Excellent Performance Award by a Senior Jazz Choir, Show Choir, or Ensemble. $200, donated by the Linden Singers of Victoria.Songbirds Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Pitches Vocal Ensemble invited to sing at the Choral Highlights Concert at the Philip T. Young Auditorium at the University of Victoria.
Vancouver Island Concert Band Festival - Port Alberni Strings Ensemble received a Superior Award and the Wind Ensemble received Excellent with an invitation to MusicFest Canada, The Nationals in 2023.
West Coast Jazz Festival - VIU, Nanaimo Jazz Band – Excellent Silver and MusicFest Canada Nationals Invitation for 2023.Advanced Rock Band – Superior Gold and MusicFest Canada Nationals Invitation for 2023.Intermediate Rock Band – Excellent Silver.Songbirds Vocal Ensemble – Excellent Silver and MusicFest Canada Nationals Invitation for 2023.Beginner Rock Band – Excellent Silver and MusicFest Canada Nationals Invitation for 2023.Hazel L, Allard ‘23 - Most Outstanding Junior Drums.
