On Saturday, May 15 Brentwood held its annual Spring Formal. It had not happened last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic along with its mitigation and distancing strategies.

Spring Formal is an event for Grade 11 & 12 students. They can ask someone else be their dates - but it is not mandatory. This year's jaw-dropping theme was Vegas. You know what they say: “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”

As students began to arrive at Crooks Hall to begin their night, many fine young gentlemen gathered their dates with flowers and an awkward smile. Once they entered McNeill’s they were immediately met with multiple Blackjack stands run by the casino dealers. Cooper J, Rogers ‘22, someone who had never played befire said that he had “won so easily it was like taking candy from a baby”. I sat out of the Blackjack since poker is really my thing but Emily P, Mackenzie ‘22 said that she “didn’t have a great night in the gambling area of things”.

The event was held in Crooks and the dining hall had turned into a PG rave run by none other than DJ Dan. DJ Dan, also known as Mr Millar, the Rogers House BFA, was fantastic as his youthful energy brought an insane playlist to the dance floor.

The night would not have even taken place without Ms Ramsey; she honestly puts her heart and soul into making sure the events that take place at Brentwood are something to remember. She had a few words to say about the event: “I watched as the students arrived, and I listened to the beautiful sound of their laughter, young men dressed in their finest, young women looking beautiful and vibrant. It was an evening of food, dance and fun - with a sense of pride as I looked around. At one point, as the evening came to a close, I realized a vast number of the students were having their last dance at Brentwood, and I threw a wish into the skies that the world will treat you all kindly as you make your way to the next stage of your journeys. I may have had a few tears, but my heart will forever be filled with fond memories of all of you.”

On behalf of the senior class, we thank all the foodstaff, BFAs, staff members, and Blackjack dealers for making this spectacular night possible. Special shoutout to Ms Ramsey - I’m definitely going to miss you and I'm sure I won't be the only one.
