Spring Flowers Bring Bridal Showers!

Many of us are looking forward to March Break, but few have plans as momentous as Ms Sarah Hall and Mr Drew Langer. Despite many Covid-related setbacks, this Brentwood couple is finally getting married! Ms Hall was unable to have a proper bridal shower due to Covid, so the girls of Alex House decided to do something to celebrate their Assistant Houseparent and send her off on this new chapter.

Through many secret meetings and private emails, Ms Warner and the Alex House girls were able to coordinate a surprise bridal shower for Ms Hall on the final Tuesday night of Winter Term. All of the party attendees quietly snuck to the Foote Fieldhouse early to allow time for the guest of honor to arrive. Mr Langer was in on it too and helped convince Ms Hall to walk to the Foote wearing a nice outfit. The girls were sitting in the dark in silence to maintain the element of surprise for as long as possible, but when the couple arrived, they switched on the lights, yelled, “Surprise!” and House Captain Justine C, Alex ‘22 presented Ms Hall with a veil and sash that read “Bride to be.”

It was a very eventful evening full of games, food, and emotional speeches. We tested our knowledge about the couple with a Kahoot, dressed each other in toilet paper wedding gowns, and a representative from each grade gave a speech congratulating Ms Hall and wishing her luck.

“It was so fun to see the house come together to celebrate our very special Houseparent,” said Elora E, Alex ‘22. Elora won another game that night by getting people to say certain forbidden words such as dress, wedding, and Langer.

After cupcakes and sparkling apple cider toasts, the girls cleaned up and headed back to their house, but not before many tears were shed and hugs were exchanged. “This literally made my year,” said Ms Hall. “After so many setbacks, it was the most thoughtful thing and it made me even more excited for my wedding.”

Congratulations Ms Hall and Mr Langer; Alex House and the entire Brentwood community are behind you and we are so excited for you to embark on this special journey!
