Sports Review – September

Wednesday, October 07, 2015 - By: Blake Gage

Welcome back Brentwood family and friends! We are looking forward to another active and exciting year in Brentwood Athletics. It has been a busy start to the year and our students appear keen and eager to engage in their sports. The weather has been beautiful and the fields, gym, weight rooms, tennis courts and waterfront are alive with activity. While there are a variety of athletic options, we strongly encourage everyone to try and engage in team sports; there is no better way to get to know your peers than to work with them in practice and then compete together in games. These shared experiences bring our kids that much closer together and create memories that last a lifetime. In our first term, it is the competitive season for:

  • Grade 9 Boys Rugby
  • Junior Boys Soccer
  • Senior Boys Soccer
  • Senior Girls Volleyball
  • Junior Girls Volleyball
  • Senior Girls Field Hockey
  • Junior Girls Field Hockey

Our kids love playing on these teams; the coaching they receive is first rate and it all starts with the underlying belief that kids need to have fun. Our first weekend of action was highlighted by our Girls Field Hockey teams hosting the 2015 Friendship Cup and our Senior Girls Volleyball team competing at the UBC Mizuno Classic. Also this month, our Senior Boys Soccer team competed at the Independent Schools Association Championship (edging out Shawnigan in penalty kicks in their last game!) and our Grade 9 Rugby boys have been busy with scrimmages vs Shawnigan, St Michaels and Mulgrave. We look forward to lots more action as we head into a busy October.
