Silver for Junior Boys
The Brentwood Junior Boys Basketball team was in action in Courtenay this past weekend. The boys opened the tournament with a good win against Port Alberni 66-38. This set up a semi-final game against a strong AAA school, Vanier, from Courtenay. It was a hard fought game but Brentwood built up a 17 point lead in the third quarter and hung on to take the game 63-52. This set up a repeat of last year's final game against the host Mark Isfeld Ice.
Unfortunately fatigue and fouls led to a nine point loss and a second place finish. Hayden F Led the way throughout the weekend scoring double digit points and rebounds in all games. Josh C also had some flashes of good play while manning the point guard position. Woody L was a steady defensive presence during the weekend and Grade nine player Eric Z continues to improve with every game.
The boys will have their toughest test of the year this Tuesday at 3:30 when they host Gulf Islands Secondary for first place in the Mid-island Junior league.
