Showcase Volleyball 1
On Wednesday Brentwood hosted its first Showcase event of 2019-2020. The Senior A Girls Volleyball team welcomed Shawnigan Lake School to this big match in the Wheaton Gym of the Foote Athletic Centre. As with every Showcase event, many students came to cheer on their team.
Brentwood won the first two sets without any problems: 25-16 and 25-5. In the third set, our girls in black-red-white fell behind in the beginning, but fought back to win the third set 25-20 and the match in three sets.
During the game, Brentwood Broadcast was at work live-streaming the game onto Youtube so that friends and family who could attend could watch it live.
The atmosphere during the game was very good and both teams were cheered on as Shawnigan brought some of their supporters to the event as well. Chris S, Privett ‘21 enjoyed his first Showcase event: “It was very exciting to experience a Showcase event. It was my first one, but I am looking forward to the next ones. You could see that it helped the team a lot that many of their schoolmates came to the game and cheered on the team.’’
It was a successful first Showcase event from Brentwood’s point of view, and we are all looking forward to more great performances from the sports teams of our school. The next one is coming up on Tuesday, when the Senior Boys’ Soccer team plays Kwalikum SS for the #1 ranking going into the North Island playoffs.
