Showcase - Hockey Night in Mill Bay!
One of the showcase sporting events during Brentwood’s Spirit Week this year is our annual Showcase Hockey game. The puck drops this Saturday, January 26th, at Kerry Park Arena. It is of the most prestigious games of the year for the team, and one that is always met with excitement and hype from the players and the fans.
Named the Saville Cup Showcase, in honour of the long-time support of the Saville family to Brentwood Hockey, this game is a recurring event with Brentwood’s senior hockey team taking on the challengers from St. George’s School in Vancouver.
It has become a tradition, and one that is part of the quest for success in the senior hockey team throughout the year. As well as being an important game in terms of tradition, it is also meant to display the hockey team on a greater scale, as the whole school is invited to come out and watch the game.
The squad hopes to build off a promising regular season so far in order to prepare for the strong St. George’s team they will face. The team hopes their tenacity, grit, and relentless attitude can produce a very solid Brentwood performance, and one that can, collectively, be very difficult to play against. “As long as everyone gives it their 100% and continues to be relentless, we can show St. George’s the door” says Callum P, Rogers ‘20. It will take effort, but the team is willing to do what it takes.
The game will run from 7pm to 9pm this Saturday, and we encourage all members of the Brentwood community to come out, support, and cheer on the team. Hope to see you there!
