Senior Volleyball 4th in BC

9 December 2010
After a stellar season of tournament and league play, the Senior Girls’ volleyball team finished 4th at the provincial championships this past weekend in Kamloops. The squad dominated pool play, beating Sa-Hali 25-15, 25-16, D.P. Todd 25-18, 25-14 and St. Thomas More 25-17, 25-22. Opening playoff matches produced a 25-3, 25-11, 25-18 victory over Charles Hayes and a 25-15, 25-17, 30-28 sweep of Langley Fundamental in the quarterfinals. That set the stage for a huge showdown in the semifinals with island rival Lambrick Park.

Lambrick and Brentwood played several matches during the season that went the distance. At the tournament we hosted in November, every game went to three sets and either team could have won. Unfortunately, Lambrick took this contest in three sets 14-25, 24-26, 17-25. “Had we pulled that second game off, it would have been a different story’’ said Coach Fougner. “The level is so incredibly high now,’’ she said “any of the top five teams were more than capable of winning it.”

Shelby Michaels made a grand exit from her four year tenure on the Senior team by being selected to the provincial AA first all-star team. Well done, Shelby and congratulations to the girls on an excellent season that provided the school with terrific entertainment and much inspiration.
