Senior Vball in Vancouver

The Senior A Volleyball team enjoyed a much-deserved restful Sunday after a very busy two days of volleyball competing at the prestigious UBC Mizuno Classic tournament this past weekend. With teams in attendance from as far away as Manitoba, the girls faced some stiff competition. We finished 2nd in our pool with back-to-back victories over Heritage Woods (last year’s AAAA provincial champions) and Holy Cross and a loss to St. Patrick's. In a must-win game on Saturday morning, the girls came up just short against a very tall and athletic team from MEI in Abbotsford. We were able to rally back from this disappointing loss with two quick victories over Woodlands and AAA provincially #4 AAA ranked Crofton House. In the Consolation Final, the girls ran out of steam and were defeated by York House. Captain Karlien LR displayed some amazing defense and Lauren Y quarterbacked an intelligent offence throughout the entire weekend. Hannah C and Lauren H also continued to shut down opposition attacks at the net showing some superb blocking skills. Despite their exhaustion, the team walked away from the tournament better prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.  Mrs. Jill Fougner, Coach
