The activity on the tennis courts starts early in the year and continues non-stop until the last ball is struck at the Angus/Porter Cup finals. In September, the dedicated tennis players competed in the Fall Classic Tournament with the boys doubles team of Leon S and Christopher C teaming up to take top honours.

When the winter rains arrived, the tennis players moved off campus to the indoor tennis courts at Arbutus Ridge under the “bubble.” Everyone was able to participate in the Indoor Challenge. Once again, the Brentwood boys’ doubles team rose to the top.

The senior team was extremely busy in the third term, playing and hosting tournaments. First up was the Spring Invitational Tournament with teams from Terry Fox Secondary, Ballenas, Shawnigan, and Brentwood. The doubles team of Alejandro G and Christopher C claimed the ‘A’ event, Nancy M and Juliane B won the ‘B’ event. At the ISA championships, the team performed well with the boys and girls teams claiming silver medals. The team continued their winning ways by claiming the Vancouver Island AA Championship. They defeated teams from Glenlyon Norfolk, Lambrick, and SMUS, then fought to a 6-5 victory over Shawnigan in the final. With their result at the Island Championships, the team was off to compete at the BCSS Provincial Tennis Championship in Burnaby.

Meanwhile, on the Brentwood courts, the tournament for the Angus/ Porter Cup was being played to crown the top senior girl and top senior boy. The singles competition continued throughout the month of May and into June, culminating in the year-end barbeque and finals day.

There have been lots of smiles, many laughs, and good memories on the tennis courts; the players thank their coaches: Mrs. McLean, Mr. Alscher, Mrs. Martin, Ms Chen, and Ms Ramundi.
