On Tuesday afternoon the newly formed Senior Girls Soccer team took to the pitch for our season opener against Gulf Islands SS. With a strong team of seniors continuing from last year and the addition of skilled juniors ready to play senior, we have strong hopes for the season.

Kickoff under a heavy cloud did nothing to dampen the spirits of the team. We opened the game strong, dominating possession and completing great runs and passes. An excellent finish by Chidinma A, Alex ‘17, opened the scoring. With strong defensive work by Nairee P, Allard ‘18, Gulf Islands had no chances for attack. A second great goal was scored by Elysa D, Allard ‘18 which opened up the lead to 2-0.

The second half came with many more chances for Brentwood. Both sides fought hard, but Brentwood’s passing skills create many more opportunities for the home side. A skillful finish by Cate B, Allard ‘17 made the lead for Brentwood 3-0, and this ultimately finished off the game.

The team is looking forward to the season ahead and are hungry for victory this weekend, travelling to SMUS for the ISA tournament.
