The Brentwood Senior Boys Soccer team quickly got their season off to a decent start at the Independent School Association tournament (ISAs) in Victoria this weekend. The boys played two games on Friday, and another two on Saturday, with all of the fixtures held at St. Michaels University School.  The team got off to a nervous start in their first game against SMUS, going down 2-0 in the first half. But the lads battled back to make it a one goal game, then both teams traded goals to end the half 3-2 for the hosts. No goals were added in the second half, although chances flourished at both ends, ending the game 3-2.  West Point Grey Academy was up next, and a 0-0 draw at full time meant that terms were to be settled on penalty kicks. Juan N saved all three spot kicks he faced, while Arnau T, Noel P and Ankit B all converted from 12 yards to sweep the shootout for Brentwood.  A well played team game on Saturday morning saw Brentwood defeat Mulgrave by three goals to one. This put the team in the bronze medal game against Collingwood later that afternoon. Brentwood fought hard but just came up short, with the score 2-0 for Collingwood at the final whistle. Claiming the fourth place spot at the tournament, the team now heads into the season with a good sense of what they did well, and where they need to improve.  It should be an exciting season for the boys, with a lot of new faces emerging onto the team, as well as familiar ones stepping up into leadership roles.
