Senior Soccer Ends Season at Provincials

The Senior Girls finished 6th, their highest placement ever, at this weekend’s AA provincial championships. The final game saw the girls come from behind twice with fine goals by Katie C and Maddy A and Spenser M made some exceptional saves in the ensuing penalty shootout.

The tournament winner, Burnsview, had narrowly edged Brentwood 1-0 in the quarter finals. With much of our team currently in Grade 11, the goal next year is to make it to the championship final.

Team Captain Kate P led by example, setting the bar high with her torrid work rate. Mairi H was named to the all star team (The Commissioner’s 11) and led the team with three goals (two of them game winners). The spirit exhibited by the girls was exemplary both on and off the field and the coaches feel very fortunate to have guided this group of fine young women throughout the season. It was a special year as the squad finished 2nd at ISA's, North Island's, and Island's, playing high quality of soccer all year long.
