Senior Soccer Ends Excellent Season

The Senior Girls Soccer team had a good run through the season, but we fell just short of qualifying for the provincial tournament when we narrowly lost two games at the recent Island tournament.

The team started with a win over Esquimalt. We conceded an early goal but continued pressure on our opponents led to three goals. Tessa M fired a shot and Mairi H followed up to put away the rebound. Mairi scored the second, with the third coming via a nice cross by Emilia G finished by Eryn W. BCS 3, Esquimalt 1.

The second game was against SLS and we allowed two goals before coming back to within one by half time. Meaghan B provided the delivery that was nicely finished by Karly D. BCS had the lion’s share of possession
and pressure all through the second half, but we couldn't find the equalizer. SLS 2, BCS 1.

It was critical for us to win the third game to give us a good chance of qualifying for the BC's but a balanced game saw BCS on the short end of the final score. Mairead lasered a precise corner kick and Tessa M bravely got on the end of it to crash in a needed goal, but we couldn't find a second strike. Parklands 2, BCS 1.

The team showed excellent chemistry and commitment for one another both on and off the field. Although our season's goal was to get to the BC championship, the girls did obtain some notable highlights with a bronze
medal at the ISA tournament and a win at the North Island Championships. They are to be commended on their efforts.
