Senior Soccer Bit By Bunnies

7 March 2013
Though half our size and a fraction of our age, the Cowichan U13 Gold Boys Soccer team was a force to contend with.

This past Tuesday, in a preface to the upcoming competitive season, the second term Senior Girls played a lively and friendly match against Coach Jill Fougner’s son’s soccer team, finishing a close second place in an intense shoot out. We extend our congratulations and thanks to this wonderful and talented team, who demonstrated inspiring sportsmanship and enthusiasm while impressing both players and onlookers alike with honed skills, boundless energy and great cohesiveness.

Our girls put in considerable effort to keep up with these Energizer Bunnies. The team enjoyed three outstanding goals by Samantha D, Erin W and Megan B and a fabulous long-distance shot from Karlien L. As well, Kendra S was solid in net. The game ended tied 3-3, and so proceeded to an exciting shootout with a lovely goal from Samantha D.

Despite the rainy weather, both teams enjoyed an engaging match that proved a great way to start the season. Many thanks to Coach Horth, Coach Fougner, referee Mr. Collis, and especially the Cowichan Boys Gold team players, coaches and parents who made this fun and exciting match possible. We wish their team all the best in the future.
